How it works
Three steps to glory.

Enter
Snap a head-to-toe photo when you arrive and give your costume a name. Group costumes enter once, together.

Rate
Give every other costume one to five pumpkins on four criteria, right from your phone. Your own costume is off limits.

Reveal
Live standings run on the TV all night. Voting closes when the host calls it, and at midnight the winners go up on the big screen.
Judging
Four ways to win.
Each criterion is scored one to five pumpkins. The top scorer in each one takes its award, and the best average across all four is crowned Best in Show.
Best in Show
The highest overall Scream Score takes the crown and bragging rights until next October.
House rules
Play fair. Mostly.
- 01You can't rate your own costume.
- 02Ratings are anonymous. Only the averages ever go on screen.
- 03Rate everyone you can. Scores are averages, so a few missed ratings won't sink anyone.
- 04Group and duo costumes enter once and share the glory.
- 05Voting closes when the host calls it. Bribes are not allowed, unless they are candy.
- 06Ties are settled by a 30-second dance-off. The room decides.
